The Eurovision scenario showing the winning country of 2024
The first nonbinary artist to win Eurovision, Switzerland’s Nemo.

Before embarking on the Eurovision Radio Journey through the Finalist, you might ask yourself, what’s Eurovision? Have you heard of the American Song Contest hosted by Kelly Clarkson in 2022? That was based on Eurovision!
This iconic song contest bringing together nations across Europe (and beyond), has a long journey dating back to 1956 and has grown into one of the most-watched non-sporting events in the world, with millions of viewers tuning in each year. It’s not just about the music or competition; it’s also about celebrating diversity, music, and cultural exchange on an international stage.

Let’s go over some Eurovision rules☝️

European countries and a few non-European countries that are members of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) host national selection processes like televised competitions, internal selections by broadcasters, or a combination of both. The winning entry from each country’s selection process represents them at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Each year two Semi-Finals are held on Tuesday and Thursday, followed by the final on Saturday. For the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest, 37 countries qualified for the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest, and 26 participated in the Grand Final where Switzerland took first place with Nemo Mettler and the original song The Code.

2024’s Eurovision trophy

Fans can vote over the phone, by text, or via the Eurovision app. Each person can vote up to 20 times, but voters will be unable to select their own country’s entry.

Now, are you ready to immerse yourself further into the Eurovision experience? Let’s embark on a radio journey through the heart of Europe’s Song Contest!
