We're now in the last stretch of the tournament, with the World Cup Final this Sunday between Germany and Argentina. And of course, to warm things up, Brazil and The Netherlands will be vying for 3rd place on Saturday. More details below!

Saturday July 12 at 4pm EST
3rd Place Match: Brazil vs Netherlands

Sunday July 13 at 3pm EST
World Cup Final: Germany vs Argentina

Who will finally be World Cup Champion? Will it be Germany for the 4th time in history or will it be Argentina's 3rd? Follow the game live at Streema on Sunday and find out!

Hi Streema Soccer Fans!

After a very exciting Round of 16, the Quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup 2014 are kicking off today! At the end of the day tomorrow, we'll know who the Semifinalists are - France, Germany, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Belgium, The Netherlands and Costa Rica will be the stars of this stage, but only four will advance.

Before we get into that, though, let's do a very quick recap of the Round of 16 in case you missed it: Colombia beat Uruguay in a simpler match than most would have expected; France struggled some but finally beat Nigeria; Netherlands almost lost but turned the game around in the final few minutes to beat Mexico; Germany, Argentina, and Belgium struggled a whole lot but won in overtime; Costa Rica beat Greece in a breathtaking match, after penalty kicks; and Brazil got lucky and beat Chile, also in penalty kicks.

Now, back to the Quarterfinals! Here's the lineup for today and tomorrow:

Today Friday July 4, 2014
1pm France vs Germany
5pm Brazil vs Colombia

Tomorrow Saturday July 5, 2014
1pm Argentina vs Belgium
5pm Netherlands vs Costa Rica

As usual, you can watch or listen to these games and more here at Streema. Just follow the links above and enjoy a soccer packed Friday and Saturday!

Hi Streema Soccer Fans!

What does a sports network like ESPN, an accounting firm like PwC, and a banking powerhouse like Goldman Sachs have in common? Not much, other than they all made predictions for this World Cup. :)

Just for fun, we looked at how these predictions faired in the Group Phase that recently wrapped up. We analyzed each of the predictions from these three organizations as well as for Bloomberg, The Economist, and Yahoo. Specifically in ESPN's case they had both a crowdsourced prediction through the ESPN Bracket Predictor feature as well as a more editorial prediction through FiveThirtyEight a recently launched ESPN-owned website, so we included both. In our analysis, we found some surprising results and you would never guess which organization made the best Group Phase predictions. You can see that and more in the infographic below. :)

Hi Streema Soccer Fans!

It’s been an awesome Group Round at the FIFA World Cup 2014 and the teams are now getting ready for the Round of 16, which starts in a few hours.

There were upsets, exciting games, and many surprises along the way. As expected, Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany and The Netherlands took the first place in their respective groups. On the other hand, previous World Cup 2010 Champion Spain started the tournament getting crushed by a Dutch team looking for revenge from the Final four years ago and didn’t make it past the Group Round. Equally surprising was that neither Italy nor England made it in the "Group of Death", where Costa Rica emerged as one of the unexpected successes, advancing to the Round of 16 for the 2nd time in only four World Cup appearances.

As for the players, top players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez unfortunately won’t continue in the World Cup, but for very different reasons: the first because his team couldn't make it past the group stage and the second because he took a leaf from Hannibal Lecter's playbook. Also, barring a miracle, it looks like Argentine forward Kun Agüero won’t recover in time from his slight injury to play in Argentina's next game against Switzerland.

However, in the running for the Golden Shoe Award, top scorers Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr are doing their thing with 4 goals each, but Thomas Mueller is right up there with them for a three way tie, with six other players right behind with 3 goals. The previous World Cup top scorer, Mueller himself, had 5 goals at the end of the 2010 tournament, so it looks like this year's leading scorer at the end on the World Cup will greatly exceed that number.

As for the matches coming up in the Round of 16, they are nonetheless are very exciting! Here’s a rundown of what's coming up during the next four days:

Saturday June 28th
1pm Brazil vs Chile
5pm Colombia vs Uruguay

Sunday June 29th
1pm Netherlands vs Mexico
5pm Costa Rica vs Greece

Monday June 30th
1pm France vs Nigeria
5pm Germany vs Algeria

Tuesday July 1st
1pm Argentina vs Switzerland
5pm Belgium vs USA

As usual, you can watch or listen to these games and more here at Streema. Have a great soccer weekend!

Stay tuned!

What an exciting start to the World Cup! Not only have the fans from all over the world been cheering their hearts out, but also the Brazilian fans have been great hosts.

With all teams debuting this past few days in this edition of the tournament there's definitely a lot to talk about! Of course, the surprises: defending champions Spain went down 5-1 against The Netherlands and must win their next match against Chile; and two-time World Cup winner Uruguay lost their initial match 3-1 against Costa Rica, having a very complicated road ahead.

There has also been some tough matches: Italy beat England in a clash of titans and Germany, France, and Colombia crushed their opponents. As for the four-time FIFA Player of the Year Award recipient Lionel Messi, his team, two-time World Cup winner Argentina showed why they are one of the favorites, but only in the 2nd half of the match against Bosnia.

This coming week will be a very exciting one for the World Cup, so check out what's coming up! Will Uruguay and Spain stay alive? Will the Netherlands continue their masterful play?

Day 6 Tuesday June 17th
1pm Belgium vs Algeria
4pm Brazil vs Mexico
7pm Russia vs South Korea

Day 7 Wednesday June 18th
1pm Australia vs Netherlands
4pm Spain vs Chile
7pm Cameroon vs Croatia

Day 8 Thursday June 19th
1pm Colombia vs Ivory Coast
4pm Uruguay vs England
7pm Japan vs Greece

Day 9 Friday June 20th
1pm Italy vs Costa Rica
4pm Switzerland vs France
7pm Honduras vs Ecuador

Day 10 Saturday June 21st
1pm Argentina vs Iran
4pm Germany vs Ghana
7pm Nigeria vs Bosnia Herzegovina

Day 11 Sunday June 22nd
1pm Belgium vs Russia
4pm South Korea vs Algeria
7pm USA vs Portugal

After these games are over, we'll have the final matches of the Group Stage where teams will play simultaneously if they are in the same group, but more on that in the next blog post. In the mean time, enjoy the World Cup soccer at Streema!

One phrase from a very known Latin American country goes like this: "there are 40 million national team coaches here". This in a country that has a population of 40 million! So, you can guess that as the final list of 23 players came out yesterday, there were millions of fans around the world that disagreed with their respective national coaches. Even when the preliminary list of 30 players came out a few weeks ago, there was controversy.

As for the players themselves, there has been talk around the web about the awesome ones that have been left out in the successive series of cuts. Here's just a short list that would make one cry... Ashley Cole (England), Carlos Tevez (Argentina), Kaká (Brazil), Mario Gomez (Germany), Nasri (France), Radamel Falcão (Colombia), Ever Banega (Argentina), Jean Armel Kana-Biyik (Cameroon), and Luke Wilkshire (Australia), to name a few. Of course, this is in addition to those players that aren't coming to the World Cup because their teams didn't qualify - again you will be missed Zlatan!

With less than 10 days left until the start of the tournament, you must be wondering where to watch the World Cup games on internet TV or how to listen to them via online radio. As we mentioned recently, we had a small announcement to make regarding the World Cup. Get ready as there is now a section specifically for World Cup 2014 Radio and TV at Streema, where you can watch live games on TV or listen to each match via hand picked radio stations. Check it out!

Hi Streema Fans,

The moment we've all been waiting for is right around the corner! Less than a month left before kickoff, all over the globe people are getting ready for the FIFA 2014 World Cup. The Copa do Mundo is arguably the biggest sporting event in the world and it will be held in Brazil which is arguably the country with the most hardcore soccer fans in the world - quite the combination!

It is true that the World Cup Qualifiers produced some surprises - you will be missed Zlatan! - we can all agree that this coming Copa do Mundo will be one of the most exciting ever. Plus, this is the first time in 64 years that Brazil has held a World Cup, the last time being in 1950.

In this edition, it's likely that Ronaldo and Messi will be vying for the top scorer title, but also Neymar, Samuel Eto'o to Didier Drogba, to name a few household names, will likely not be far behind. And while the popular saying "With age comes wisdom" will be repeated during the event thanks to some of the veterans present, we also have some young guns like English players Luke Shaw (18) and Raheem Sterling (19), among the youngest in this event, coming for the first time to the World Cup.

Anyway, we didn't want to finish this post before giving you guys a heads up that something related to the World Cup 2014 is coming at Streema. Stay tuned!
