Profile Box and Application for Pages on Facebook: We Don’t Always Have Good News

Last month, we were informed by Facebook that the profile boxes were going to be removed, and that the width for the application´s tab was going to be reduced. We knew this was going to happen sooner or later, although we didn’t post before since Facebook has changed the final dates a few times… and, we should admit it too, we also were “refusing” to accept it.

How does this affect Streema? Unfortunately, it’s pretty bad for our Application for Facebook Pages, since it used the Profile Box specifically on Facebook Pages.  That means that it essentially doesn’t work any more.  Additionally, the application’s tab changed its width, so we’ll need to adapt it in order to make it display properly (we’ll post news in the next weeks about it).

So, this is obviously not good, we’re not really happy about it, and Facebook users in general aren’t either (you can read their opinion herehere and here).  At Streema we’re committed to give you the best service we can, although sometimes surrounding circumstances like this one make it a little harder…

Back in late 2006, when Facebook opened its platform to third party developers, we saw a great opportunity and made it happen.  We now understand, though, that Facebook’s strategy has evolved and may not benefit many third party developers anymore – so Facebook will need to understand that many third party developers (including Streema) may need to adapt, change, or even forgo the Facebook platform altogether.

Now, in case you’re wondering, we’re not planning to discontinue our application on Facebook, we still think it is a great app and users do as well since it’s still the most popular application for radio on Facebook. But, as we were saying above, we’ll need to evolve too.  We’re still thinking about what that exactly means but be rest assured that we’ll keep you posted.

Stay tuned!

Streema has just launched a new application for Facebook Pages!

So, we have some more good news: today we released a new application for Facebook called “Streema Radio Tuner for Pages“. If you have a Facebook Page, this application is for you!

“Streema Radio Tuner for Pages” allows you to add a radio station to your Page, so that visitors can listen to radio directly from there. Clearly, we weren’t satisfied with only one application, so we created another one! 😛

Jokes aside, what happened was that many Radio Owners, DJs, and Producers wanted to include our classic application “Streema Radio Tuner” on their Pages, so we figured we’d give them a way to do that.

With this new application, we hope to approach many Radio Page owners or any Page administrators who want to improve their visitors’ experience. This is something really new, so we look forward to receive your feedback!

Stay tuned!

PS: If you have a radio, band, or any other music-related product or service, we highly recommend creating a Page on Facebook by following a few easy steps. For more information, click here.

New Settings section and more cool stuff for the Streema application on Facebook!

Hello Streema users!

We’ve been working hard on the Streema Facebook application and we now bring you another update on this front.

Following the release of the Streema Profile Tab a few weeks ago, we’ve launched a Settings section which groups all the integrations points for Streema. The Settings section may not sound like something that really kicks ass, or something to throw a party for, but it will really enable you to configure and customize your Streema experience even more. : )

Some of the key features you’ll be able to set up in this section are:

Streema on Facebook - Main Profile Box– Profile Box: A box that displays the 5 latest radios played by you in your profile (see image on the left).

– Status Update: Allows you to update your Status on Facebook when you’re listening to a radio.

– Notification Emails: Enables us to notify you via email every time you receive a Recommendation from your friends.

For more information, we encourage you to visit this section, and if you have any doubts, please, don’t hesitate to contact us!

We hope we’ve answered to your feature requests and we look forward to continue developing a better Facebook application.

Stay tuned!
