Go App for Pages!

It’s been three months since we launched our Facebook application for Pages, and we are really happy with the results! To understand our joy, we’ll let you know of a few Pages on Facebook that have added our application.

To start off, a few very known radios, such as Air 1 in the US, Radio Deejay in Italy, and Radio 1 in Slovenia have added our application to their pages.

In addition, a lot of popular radios as well: RTI from Slovakia, RMX from Mexico, WACK 91.1 from Trinidad and Tobago, The Rock from Florida (USA), Radiodiva and Radio Bari, both from Italy. All of them added our application.

Also, a lot of electronic stations also have our app, so if you like Drum and Bass, check out Nu-Perception; for Trance, Planet Citizens; and for Chillout, Buzzoutroom.

Another popular group of Pages that have added our application are universities. To mention just two: in Israel, Kol-Hacampus; and in the US, WPUNJ’s Alumni Association from New Jersey.

Finally, DJs, Bands and other types of pages also have the Streema Radio Tuner for Pages.

We want to specially thank all these Page owners for letting us create a radio listening experience on their page. And, of course, we also want to thank the more than a hundred fans that support the application. : )

Stay tuned!

The Streema Team

PS – Sincere apologies for not mentioning all the Pages that have added our application. If you’d like to appear on our next post about this topic, please let us know.

Enhanced Profile Tab in our Facebook Application

Hi everybody, we’re back with some good news!

Lets start with some history. Back in the old ages of 2008, Facebook announced that it was going to launch a profile redesign. At Streema, we researched all the implications and developed a bunch of new stuff we thought our users would like: the Profile Tab was one of them.

To our pleasant surprise, the Profile Tab has been very popular amongst our users, so we thought it would be great to continue improving it! In the same way we did with the old Profile Box, your most listened radios will now appear. In addition, given that many radio fans and owners wanted to make one station stand out on their profile, you will now be able to “Feature” it. To do so, just go to our application, then to the Profile section, and follow the steps – you’ll be featuring a radio on your profile in less than a minute! Check out the screen shot below.

Also, remember that one of the best ways to share that radio is also to recommend it to all your friends. 😉

Okay, enough for now! If you haven’t added the Profile Tab yet, just go to your profile, click on the More Tabs menu which is displayed as a “+” (plus sign) and then select “Streema Radio Tuner”. 🙂

Stay tuned!

New Settings section and more cool stuff for the Streema application on Facebook!

Hello Streema users!

We’ve been working hard on the Streema Facebook application and we now bring you another update on this front.

Following the release of the Streema Profile Tab a few weeks ago, we’ve launched a Settings section which groups all the integrations points for Streema. The Settings section may not sound like something that really kicks ass, or something to throw a party for, but it will really enable you to configure and customize your Streema experience even more. : )

Some of the key features you’ll be able to set up in this section are:

Streema on Facebook - Main Profile Box– Profile Box: A box that displays the 5 latest radios played by you in your profile (see image on the left).

– Status Update: Allows you to update your Status on Facebook when you’re listening to a radio.

– Notification Emails: Enables us to notify you via email every time you receive a Recommendation from your friends.

For more information, we encourage you to visit this section, and if you have any doubts, please, don’t hesitate to contact us!

We hope we’ve answered to your feature requests and we look forward to continue developing a better Facebook application.

Stay tuned!

Recommending Radios on our Facebook Application!

Streema on Facebook - Recommend SectionHello Streema users!

This time we bring you an update concerning our Facebook application: we’ve just launched a Recommend section! It’s similar to the Messages section on our website, where you can recommend a radio to a friend, write them a message, or do both! The difference is that now, you’ll be able to this with your friends on Facebook. Check it out!

Also, we have two additional Facebook application announcements. The first is that we just released a simple Community section, that for now only displays two familiar charts: “Hottest of the Last Hour” and “Hottest of the Last Week”. The second is that we are working hard to adapt our application to the demands of the new profile redesign, which means we’ll be launching a Profile Application Tab and a Narrow Profile Box among other things.

That’s all for now. Remember, to stay updated with our Facebook application news, become a Fan!

After the Storm…

Hello once again!

We’ve been posting quite frequently during the past few days, mainly because we’ve had to weather a storm caused by lots and lots of visits to our site. And that is a great thing!

On the left, you can see graph that shows the visits to Streema.com during the past two weeks. While we did omit specific numbers, to give you an idea, our website experienced close to a 20-fold increase in traffic in just 48 hours! You can see where most of those visits came from just by looking at all the radios that made it to the top of the Streema Charts. 😛

As we said in the previous post, we’re working hard to accommodate for a greater community of users. Our site is up and running again, so do check it out by going to our website Streema.com or the Streema Facebook application.

Surge in Asian Streema users causes downtime in our service.

Dear Streema Community,

As we shared with you in our previous post, this past week Streema has been mentioned a lot around the web. That has turned out to be a mixed blessing for Streema as it has been traditionally for many startups: the great news is that word is getting around about us… but the bad news is that these visits came at an unexpected time in our development and literally crashed our servers.

Three websites from Japan – Egone.org, Dougafile.shard.jp and Jyouhouya3.sakura.ne.jp – sent so many visitors that it brought down both Streema.com and our Facebook application for several hours at a time during yesterday and today. And they still continue to do this as we write this post! We wanted this to happen after July, with our new design and a different server infrastructure than the one we have now, but the Web works in mysterious ways. : )

Apart from saying “we’re sorry” to those of you that have experienced problems accessing our site, we also wanted to let our users know that we are working hard to resolve these scalability issues promptly.

If you have any comments, don’t hesitate to email us at info at streema dot com.

Radio News – Core, Capital Life, theJazz… and saving Planet Rock!

Starting today, we’ll periodically blog Radio News with station information that we think is important and relevant to our users.

This information will range from recently added radio stations to Streema’s Radio Directory to broader industry events like mergers or acquisitions which cause stations to change names and others to even cease to exist! After all, listening to great radio stations is one of the main reasons Streema was created and we want to make sure our users are up to date with the latest info!

This time around, we bring news about radio stations that have closed and wanted to let you know what we’ve done about it in our Radio Directory:

  • Core radio has closed (see more info here), so it will be erased from our directory and from the any Favorite Lists that included them.
  • Capital Life and theJazz have closed too (see more info here and here). Since Capital Life’s old website, owned by Gcap Media, offers a link to Gold (listen via Streema), we’ll recommend that previous Capital Life listeners try it out. Similarly, theJazz offers a link to Classic FM (listen via Streema) as an option, so give it a shot if you’re a previous listener of theJazz!
  • Planet Rock is near closing, but a campaign to save it that is supported by Brian May (yes, you read well!) has just started.

Although most of this is hardly news in the media industry, we still wanted to inform the Streema community since we did make those changes to our directory. If anyone has any concerns, feel free to contact us.

Finally, we’ll like to thank one of our Streema Facebook App users, Cymon Humphries, for bringing up this information.

That’s all for now. Stay tuned!

Continue Improving our Facebook Application!

Hi Streema users! We would like to share with you some of the improvements we’ve made to our Facebook Application.

  • Good bye to pop-up blockers!
Finally, we’ve found a way to avoid having you change your web browser’s pop-up blocker to use our app. This is a big improvement since many new users had problems using our application when they would click on the play buttons and our pop-up with the media player didn’t come up. If you were one of those, be sure to check out our new version!
  • Showing a larger number of Recent Listeners
We’ve have increase the amount of Recent Listeners to 10 Friends. They now appear with a larger picture too, hope you like this change! =)
  • Removed the box with the Friends who have added Streema
We’ve removed this box since we figured there was other information that was more appropriate for the “Home” section. For now you can see the friends who have added the app in the About Page, although soon we’ll be developing a few more community aspects to our app which will include that information.
  • Additional station info in the pop-up player
The pop-up which contains the player and the radio station info also includes a link to the radio’s homepage and a Report Link to inform us when a radio is not working – just like at Streema.com! =)
  • FAQs Update
We’ve updated our our FAQs section. If you have any doubt about this or anything else, visit our FAQs or drop us a line!

Before we leave, we also want to pre-announce that soon we’ll be launching a series of Charts as we’ve done on Streema.com along with notification emails to keep you updated.

Don’t forget to check out our new and improved Streema App to listen to your favorite radios.

That’s all for now. And for those Facebook users out there, thank you for spreading the word about us!

Stay tuned!

Welcome to The Streema Blog!

We’re very happy to announce that today we’ve finally launched our blog, so “Welcome to The Streema Blog!”

Streema is the first social radio tuner on the web, a place where you can listen to, organize, share, and recommend radio stations from all over the world. You can also see what radios your friends are listening to at any time and soon we’ll be developing even more social features.

The Streema Blog is like any other blog, a space to enhance the communication between people. However, given that Streema is a very social and highly communicative experience with so many cool users around the world, we hope that our blog will be a great place to inform, learn, have fun and, more than ever, stay tuned to the coolest radios out there! On occasion we’ll be writing about our favorite radios, we’ll keep you posted on our new features, make new announcements, and a whole lot more. What else do you think our blog should be? Let us know by leaving your comments below!

In case you are a Facebook user, our Fb app has had an About Page for a few months now, which includes a Wall, a Review Section and a Discussion Board with a lot of feedback. We encourage you to take a look at it and, if you haven’t done so already, leave your comments and suggestions over there too.
