As we mentioned over two weeks ago, we've been working really hard to develop a new design for Streema.com. Today we can say it is finally with us - yeeeaaahhh!

So... go to Streema.com and you'll see that we've changed the WHOLE front end of our site. This has involved the design and architecture of images and objects, any message, alert or notification displayed, the color palette and even the Streema Logo! We hope this will improve and enhance your experience on our site.

Besides the "design", the main differences you'll experience as a user are: a new Home page you get when not logged in; and the development of a Player (check the mockup below) which lets us hide the ugly Windows Media or the Real Audio players - although you'll still need to have them installed on your computer in order to play all the stations in our Radio Directory, exactly as it works nowadays. There are other cool new things on our site, but we'll leave you to discover them on your own. : )

Well, we're really excited about this big change and we hope we've chosen the right path. We still think there's room for improvement, so we specially request you to tell us what you like and don't like. Thanks and enjoy the new Streema.com !!

Stay tuned!

As mentioned in a previous post on the Streema blog, Virgin Radio was acquired a couple of months ago and was going to be rebranded. Well, it finally happened: Virgin Radio has now changed its name to Absolute Radio. This rebranding includes the three stations they have nowadays: Virgin Radio, Virgin Radio Classic Rock and Virgin Radio Xtreme - they are now called Absolute Radio, Absolute Classic Rock and Absolute Xtreme.

Meanwhile, you'll find them in our directory as:

We've been listening to Absolute Classic Rock and... what can we say? It's not the same! The presenters speak in the same way, but the music is already changing. Well, we're total old schoolers, but it's true that maybe this will make it a better station in the future... we're not sure and we'd love to hear your opinion!

Stay tuned for the new design that's coming to town... 😉

As we've mentioned before, we've been working really hard to develop a new design for Streema.com - and today we can say we are very close launching it or, in other words, bringing it to town! : )

The big reason for this redesign is that we needed to give our already very useful site a "cool" look while keeping it as user friendly as possible. We hope this will improve and enhance your experience at our site.

As an avant premiere for our blog readers, below you can see how the Homepage will look as soon as you get to Streema.com for the first time, before logging in:

We are really excited about this big change and we hope the next post about Streema.com will be about launching this cool new design!

Stay tuned!

We periodically receive many inquiries regarding browsers, the most common ones being "What's the best browser?" and "What's the best browser to run Streema on?". However, recently the most popular inquiries have revolved around the following question: "Why doesn't Streema work in Chrome?".

The potential answers for the first question are quite personal. Within our team, we can say that the PC users prefer Firefox and the Mac users prefer Safari. : )

As for the second question, Streema should work fine on:

  • Internet Explorer: The last two versions, 6 and 7.
  • Mozilla Firefox: The last two versions as well, 2 and 3.
  • Safari: The last two as well, versions 2 and 3.

If you don't know which version you're using, just go to your browser's menu, click on the "Help" tab, and then "About [browser's name]".

Last week, Google launched their new browser called Chrome. We've seen that, for the time being, it doesn't support the Windows Media Player. In other words, although Streema looks great on it, our site won't work with Chrome when you play most of the stations on our directory. If anything changes, we'll be sure to let all you Chrome fans know!

Touching the same point, there is a similar problem if you use Opera with the last version, although it can be solved using MPlayer or VLC Media Player.

For more info, please visit our FAQs section, or contact us via the contact form or email us at info at streema dot com. Hope we've cleared most of your doubts. : )

Hello Streema users!

We've been working hard on the Streema Facebook application and we now bring you another update on this front.

Following the release of the Streema Profile Tab a few weeks ago, we've launched a Settings section which groups all the integrations points for Streema. The Settings section may not sound like something that really kicks ass, or something to throw a party for, but it will really enable you to configure and customize your Streema experience even more. : )

Some of the key features you'll be able to set up in this section are:

Streema on Facebook - Main Profile Box- Profile Box: A box that displays the 5 latest radios played by you in your profile (see image on the left).

- Status Update: Allows you to update your Status on Facebook when you're listening to a radio.

- Notification Emails: Enables us to notify you via email every time you receive a Recommendation from your friends.

For more information, we encourage you to visit this section, and if you have any doubts, please, don't hesitate to contact us!

We hope we've answered to your feature requests and we look forward to continue developing a better Facebook application.

Stay tuned!

Streema on Facebook - Recommend SectionHello Streema users!

This time we bring you an update concerning our Facebook application: we've just launched a Recommend section! It's similar to the Messages section on our website, where you can recommend a radio to a friend, write them a message, or do both! The difference is that now, you'll be able to this with your friends on Facebook. Check it out!

Also, we have two additional Facebook application announcements. The first is that we just released a simple Community section, that for now only displays two familiar charts: "Hottest of the Last Hour" and "Hottest of the Last Week". The second is that we are working hard to adapt our application to the demands of the new profile redesign, which means we'll be launching a Profile Application Tab and a Narrow Profile Box among other things.

That's all for now. Remember, to stay updated with our Facebook application news, become a Fan!

Stay tuned!

Hello Streema users!

We're back with our Radio News update and, like it or not, again it's all about the UK stations. The radio industry over there definitely has many movers and shakers!

First of all, our dear Virgin Radio has been acquired by an Indian media group, and it looks like it might undergo a name change. What do you think about this, should they keep the Virgin name or not? We ran a poll within the team and this was the unanimous result: we'd like it to stay the same!

Secondly, we wanted to let you know that Planet Rock "has been saved"! In our previous Radio News post we mentioned that is was near closing, but thankfully enough, it didn't. : )

And last but not least, in case you've missed the Glastonbury Festival, you should listen to BBC Radio 1 and Q Radio during the next few days, as both stations are broadcasting the best of this year's edition.

That's all for now, hope you've enjoyed our latest bits of Radio News. Stay tuned!

PS: Once again, thanks Cymon Humphries for providing us with the key industry information!

We have great news to share with you: we finally launched Radio Spots on Streema.com!! What you will read about below is a really important step in the development of a better community experience at our site. Hope you enjoy it!

Each radio station will have their own individual Radio Spot. These pages will not only display additional information about a station but also the following: a You May Also Like section, for potentially interesting and related radio stations; a Wall to write your thoughts or comments about the radio station (for this you need to register / log in); and a Now Listening box to show the users within the Streema community who are enjoying that same radio (check out the mockup below). By the way, if you're thinking that we should also allow users to "review" a radio and give it a "rating", you're spot on: that's in the works and soon to be released. : )

How do you get to a Radio Spot? Just click on the name of the radio in our Radio Directory, the Charts, or any other place where the name appears. The only exception happens if you're trying to get to a Radio Spot from your Favorites list - from there, you'll need to place the mouse pointer on the name of the radio, wait for a second, and then click on the text that says "Radio Spot".

By the way, here are the spots of four Streema Team favorite stations:

So, what do you think? How could we improve these Radio Spots? Send us your feedback and thoughts to info at streema dot com or just leave your comment below. We want to hear from you!! : )

Ok, that's all for now. Come back to our blog soon, as we'll be posting recent Radio News.

Stay tuned!

Hello once again!

We've been posting quite frequently during the past few days, mainly because we've had to weather a storm caused by lots and lots of visits to our site. And that is a great thing!

On the left, you can see graph that shows the visits to Streema.com during the past two weeks. While we did omit specific numbers, to give you an idea, our website experienced close to a 20-fold increase in traffic in just 48 hours! You can see where most of those visits came from just by looking at all the radios that made it to the top of the Streema Charts. 😛

As we said in the previous post, we're working hard to accommodate for a greater community of users. Our site is up and running again, so do check it out by going to our website Streema.com or the Streema Facebook application.

Stay tuned!
