For us at Streema, 2008 has been a great year: we launched a completely new design for Streema.com, two Facebook applications and the blog you are now reading.  Once again, we wanted to thank you because without your comments, feedback and suggestions, Streema wouldn’t be what it is today.

What awaits for 2009?  It’ll be even busier for us than this past year, so fasten your seatbelts radio listeners!

Anyway, we don’t want to end this blog post without the traditional end-of-the year wishes, so here we go: HAPPY HOLIDAYS, and more than ever, stay tuned!

Aside from finding a growing directory of thousands of radio stations, you’ll see that we now order radio stations by popularity, as measured by our community’s activity. It’ll be easier than ever to find the best stations out there! Check out the screen shot below.

If you look closely, you’ll also notice that on the right side of the page there’s a showcase of the top station for a select number of genres. This is so that you can quickly explore radios that Streema users have been listening to a whole lot recently. :)

Anyway, we hope you enjoy this new radio discovery tool - and we look forward to bringing you a more social and better community experience at Streema in the coming months.

“Streema Radio Tuner for Pages” allows you to add a radio station to your Page, so that visitors can listen to radio directly from there. Clearly, we weren’t satisfied with only one application, so we created another one! :P

Jokes aside, what happened was that many Radio Owners, DJs, and Producers wanted to include our classic application “Streema Radio Tuner” on their Pages, so we figured we’d give them a way to do that.

With this new application, we hope to approach many Radio Page owners or any Page administrators who want to improve their visitors’ experience. This is something really new, so we look forward to receive your feedback!

So… go to Streema.com and you’ll see that we’ve changed the WHOLE front end of our site. This has involved the design and architecture of images and objects, any message, alert or notification displayed, the color palette and even the Streema Logo! We hope this will improve and enhance your experience on our site.

Besides the “design”, the main differences you’ll experience as a user are: a new Home page you get when not logged in; and the development of a Player (check the mockup below) which lets us hide the ugly Windows Media or the Real Audio players - although you’ll still need to have them installed on your computer in order to play all the stations in our Radio Directory, exactly as it works nowadays. There are other cool new things on our site, but we’ll leave you to discover them on your own. : )

Well, we’re really excited about this big change and we hope we’ve chosen the right path. We still think there’s room for improvement, so we specially request you to tell us what you like and don’t like. Thanks and enjoy the new Streema.com !!

We’ve been listening to Absolute Classic Rock and… what can we say? It’s not the same! The presenters speak in the same way, but the music is already changing. Well, we’re total old schoolers, but it’s true that maybe this will make it a better station in the future… we’re not sure and we’d love to hear your opinion!

The big reason for this redesign is that we needed to give our already very useful site a “cool” look while keeping it as user friendly as possible. We hope this will improve and enhance your experience at our site.

As an avant premiere for our blog readers, below you can see how the Homepage will look as soon as you get to Streema.com for the first time, before logging in:

The potential answers for the first question are quite personal. Within our team, we can say that the PC users prefer Firefox and the Mac users prefer Safari. : )

As for the second question, Streema should work fine on:

• Internet Explorer: The last two versions, 6 and 7.

• Mozilla Firefox: The last two versions as well, 2 and 3.

• Safari: The last two as well, versions 2 and 3.

If you don’t know which version you’re using, just go to your browser’s menu, click on the “Help” tab, and then “About [browser’s name]”.

Last week, Google launched their new browser called Chrome. We’ve seen that, for the time being, it doesn’t support the Windows Media Player. In other words, although Streema looks great on it, our site won’t work with Chrome when you play most of the stations on our directory. If anything changes, we’ll be sure to let all you Chrome fans know!

Touching the same point, there is a similar problem if you use Opera with the last version, although it can be solved using MPlayer or VLC Media Player.

We’ve been working hard on the Streema Facebook application and we now bring you another update on this front.

Following the release of the Streema Profile Tab a few weeks ago, we’ve launched a Settings section which groups all the integrations points for Streema. The Settings section may not sound like something that really kicks ass, or something to throw a party for, but it will really enable you to configure and customize your Streema experience even more. : )

Some of the key features you’ll be able to set up in this section are:

- Profile Box: A box that displays the 5 latest radios played by you in your profile (see image on the left).

- Status Update: Allows you to update your Status on Facebook when you’re listening to a radio.

- Notification Emails: Enables us to notify you via email every time you receive a Recommendation from your friends.
